【 Type of attraction open for tourism 】

  • Length of trail: The main line extends 67km (and the branch of Beikenxi Historic Trail and the Shukuang – Erbensung measures some 20km.)
  • Time required for the trip: A trip to the Beikenxi Historic Trail would take 2-3 days and for the rest of the trail, which is almost inaccessible, time required is not available.
  • Difficulty: The Beikenxi Historic Trail is of medium difficulty and in the sector that covers Tiencuntai – KuAli Mountain, Baishih - KuAli Mountain, Shukuang – Taian Hotspring, is of high difficulty because most of the Historic Trail is covered by weeds and illegible road marks plus the collapsed lands.

【 Management 】

  • Environmental limit: Part of the trail passes through the Ecological Reserve in the Shueba National Park.
  • Intensity of development/Type of facility: To keep the area as this is, the area should be banned from major exploration and only local repairs shall be provided to the trail at this time. When necessary, number of tourists shall be kept under control, as this is a Type 2 National Trail.

The Luchanglienling Trail is located in the northwest of the Shueba National Park and it links the hot springs in Erbensung, Guanwu, KuAli Mountain, Genben and Taian on the Ximingshan Island in Taian, Miaoli. This Historic Trail with close connection to the Taiya Tribe used to be a mountain trail the Taiya Tribe aboriginal by the Dajia River took for migration and hunting. When the Japanese government, the trail that used to be an access for hunting, banned it or migration was later widened and reorganized by the reigning government into a road for the control of the aboriginal. Major attractions by the trail are Digang Cliff, Daan River Valley and the Shuejian Fall. Other historical ruins are the police stations at Genben, Sato, KuAli Mountain, Shuguang, Beikeng, Shuejian and Erbensung as well the one at Wantian, all of enriched cultural touches.

The Luchanglienling Trail is located at 1,370m~2,550m above sea level, where the key plant species are luanta, Taiwanese twin-leafed pines, ?????????hyacinth (unique in Taiwan) and Miaoli cowpeas. As of fauna, the renowned mammals are Taiwanese boars, monkeys, white-faced flying squirrels, red flying squirrels and muntajacs. When it comes to birds, Taiwanese partridges, pheasants, blue-belly vultures, white-ear thrushes and yellow-chest thrushes are the only ones available in Taiwan. There are a few reptiles and amphibious species, such as Papilio xuthus, ????, ??? and botflies among others.
